Grade 7 student Tanvi publishes book 'HOME'

By Communications Team, UWCSEA

We're excited to announce that UWCSEA East Grade 7 student Tanvi's book 'HOME' will be published by the Young Author's Award. HOME is a heart-warming story about Mia who makes a shocking discovery about herself which takes her on an adventure to find the true meaning of home. Not only did Tanvi write the book, but she also illustrated the cover!

Here are some words from Tanvi:

UWCSEA East Grade 7 student Tanvi

I wrote the story HOME inspired by some books I had read about social issues and I chose to write a story of my own in this genre. I feel storytelling comes naturally to me and gives me the opportunity to voice my thoughts on social issues that I feel strongly about. I enjoyed writing the story and also illustrating the cover.

I first got interested in writing when I was seven years old. In Grade 2, I started writing short stories as a hobby and I would say that's where my writing journey began.

A big moment in my writing journey was when I won my first writing competition in Grade 4. It was a poetry competition on Woman empowerment in which I won 3rd place. That really motivated me to continue writing.

I feel very honoured to be chosen as one of the finalists to have their story published by Young Author’s Award.

It feels amazing to be a published author and I hope people enjoy reading my book and the message that is conveyed through my story. I hope to continue writing and seeing more of my stories published.
