Since 2003 the Dover Campus Infant School has supported Mumbai Mobile Crèches (MMC), a voluntary agency committed to the task of developing and maintaining care programmes for the children of labourers working on construction sites in Mumbai. They provide education, health care and recreation for children from 0 to 14 years. Beyond the construction site, they also promote a model of early childhood care and education through our training programmes and in our work through two centres in slums.
Our major fund raising project is the “Ray of Hope” event where paintings produced by children from one of the Mobile Crèches are auctioned to raise money. This event, is run jointly by the Infant School and the Bombay Street Kids Global Concern, with involvement from Infant students and parents, as well as other members of our community. The 2012 event raised over $12,000 which was used for important medical and educational resources. Over the last three years Infant students have raised $9,890.43 through personal fund raising at birthday parties by asking for donations to MMC instead of gifts.
