Kids in Cambodia (KiC)
Kids in Cambodia (KiC) Global Concern supports the education and empowerment of children living in the Steung Meanchay, Boeng Salang and Chbar Ampov slum areas on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. This partnership began in 2018 and prior to that, Kids in Cambodia supported small grass roots educational programmes through Advanced Centre of Education (ACE), namely supporting the Rudi Boa school.
Through our assistance and funding, we hope to offer opportunities to a large number of children who have been denied their basic rights to an education due to their families’ financial situation and the need for the children to work and supplement their families’ incomes. Our partner organisation, the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF), incentivises families to invest in their children's education by rewarding good attendance records with a bag of rice, fish oil and cooking oil each month.
ISF’s teaching approach follows the Accelerated Learning Programme, focusing on pedagogical teaching programmes that catch the children up to an age for grade boundary where they can ideally move into a government school. ISF also provides strong English programmes, alongside the football programme, focusing on a more holistic approach to the development of a child.
Kids in Cambodia Global Concern was established in 2005 and are most famous for our used uniform sales and annual sponsored silence.
Kids in Cambodia (KiC) is active in the Middle and High School.
