Empowering Children Of Vietnam (ECOV) is a Global Concern which strives to support children in Vietnam. The GC is student run, and consists of students in Grades 9 through 12 and it was established as a Global Concern in 2003. We support Vietnamese children in two ways:
The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation in Hanoi is an organisation which focuses on providing street children with education, shelter and safety. This is achieved through offering a place for children to rehabilitate from the life on the streets and providing services for these children ranging from counselling services to legal advocacy. In addition, Blue Dragon helps to rescue victims of human trafficking and provides legal support; this has become the main focus over recent years.
Every year UWCSEA staff and students sponsor children through an education scholarship programme so they can continue their education. These children live in the Di Linh leprosy community and have to deal with the stigma attached to the disease. Our donations allow 100 children to attend school and four young adults to attend college.
ECOV is a Middle School (Blue Dragon) and High School Global Concern.
