Alumni Reunion 2023

UWCSEA hosted and celebrated the annual Reunion 2023 on Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 August! This time, the event brought together members of our alumni community celebrating their 10th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, and 45th anniversaries.

The annual milestone Reunion has grown to become an iconic event that many alumni eagerly anticipate, as it offers the opportunity for their fellow classmates to reminisce, reconnect and rediscover their experiences at UWCSEA. This year was no exception, with more than 200 alumni, family, friends and staff attending from 31 different countries, some from as far as South America, United States, Europe and the Middle East.

Friday, 25 August: Keeping up-to-date with the community!

This year, attendees were treated to an evening at the beautiful and historic CHIJMES Hall. Head of College, Nick Alchin, shared some important College updates, and then it was time for cocktail hour, socialising, eating, and taking class photos! The energy was absolutely electric as joy and laughter filled the air.

Saturday, 26 August: A trip down memory lane on Dover Campus

The next day, alumni returned to Campus for a casual barbecue lunch, campus tours and some family fun. Many couldn’t resist taking a stroll down memory lane, revisiting their old classrooms and favourite hangout spots. It was wonderful to see the UWCSEA experiences shared with family and friends, as alumni swapped stories of their adventures during their school years.

The most memorable part of the reunion was reconnecting with old friends, making new friendships and realising that even though you all live far apart there is always that special UWC spirit connecting us all.

I am also in awe of how much the campus has changed since we graduated. Even in the 90s we thought our school was amazing, but today the facilities are just out of this world.

Gustavo Fazzari ‘78 dropped by on Friday morning to speak to a group of High School Econs students. He shared with them his journey to becoming a senior diplomat for the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his experience in international trade and economic relations.

Kait Ayres ‘83, daughter of former Headmaster David Watson (1983-1993), visited the Primary School library that was named after her father

Damon Craig ‘93 presented us with a lovely Australian First Nations painting that is now hanging on the wall of our Head of College office!

Kay Redrup ‘78 brought along for us her cookbook The Expat Alchemist Cooks Punjab. In the foreword, she shares how the journey of writing this cookbook led to discovering hidden connections and memories with a fellow UWCSEA alumni, Americk Sidhu ‘75.

Reunion weekend was a remarkable one as we got to reconnect with our returning alumni from the celebrating classes of '73, '78, '83, '88, '93, '98, '2003, '2013!

As the 2023 Alumni Reunion came to a close, the sense of camaraderie and belonging among attendees remained palpable. This Reunion weekend was a heartwarming testament to the enduring impact of a UWCSEA education, where cherished memories and lifelong friendships continue to flourish across continents and generations.
