IB 2021 Results for UWCSEA

The International Baccalaureate (IB) announced its Class of 2021, May cohort results in the IB Diploma Programme (DP) on 8 July. More than 150,000 secondary, or high school, IB Diploma students across the globe received their results, including 574 recent graduates from UWCSEA's Class of 2021.

UWCSEA’s IBDP results show that our students have done extremely well, with an average score of 39.2 points. This compares favourably with the worldwide average of 29.9. The pass rate at the College was 99.5%, as compared with the worldwide pass rate of 79.1%. You can see a breakdown of top level results for the College, and by campus, below.

The success of our students has resulted in the majority being offered places at universities around the world. Our graduates will take up studies in 'best fit' courses in leading institutions. A number of students will do so after taking part in a Gap Year (a chance to put UWC values into action) or after completing their National Service commitment.

UWCSEA has one of the largest cohorts taking the IB Diploma at an international school anywhere in the world. The UWCSEA Class of 2021 join an IB global community of more than 1.7 million lifelong learners.

We wish them all the best for the future.

The IB Diploma is an internationally recognised two-year pre-university course. To gain a full Diploma, students are required to study of a minimum of six subjects (at least three at ‘Higher Level’) as well as complete the ‘DP Core’. The Core aims to broaden the students’ educational experience and provide opportunities for them to apply their knowledge and develop their skills, and is made up of three elements: a Theory of Knowledge course, a 4,000 word Extended Essay on a topic of their choice and completion of an individual CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project.

Dover Campus was the first school in Asia to offer the IB Diploma, and has been authorised to offer the Diploma Programme since 1977; the East Campus has been authorised since welcoming the first IB Diploma intake in 2012.

The results are remarkable and I thank and congratulate all the teachers, parents and staff, whose dedication and support made all the difference to our students. Supporting each other through challenge has been a theme of the last 18 months and these results are another example of the strength and unity of our community.

But of course the praise and congratulations belong most to our students. Averages, statistics and charts, in which we do well every year, do not adequately represent the individual and diverse stories of our students, nor the triumphs and struggles that make each of their stories unique. We celebrate and congratulate every member of the UWCSEA Class of 2021.
